1. This is my 2nd career
Becoming a registered dietitian/nutritionist was not something I planned on in college. I majored in economics and minored in math… I was all set for a career in finance. I worked for over 8 years in client services and investor relations positions until I finally got the nerve to quit and follow my true passion– a career in health and nutrition!
2. My grandmother was a school dietitian
I have to admit that cooking and eating healthy has always been a part of my life – thanks to my parents. Well, really… Thanks to *their* parents! It is so essential to teach our kids how to enjoy good, nutritious foods because it sets the stage for generations down.
3. My least favorite food is a sweet potato
Seriously… I keep trying to like it and nope, no dice! I’ve tried them roasted, fried, mashed, in a pie, and I just can’t do it. So my love affair with white potatoes continues to have no competition.
4. I have 3 kids and live in Greenwich, CT
I love being in the suburbs and exploring Fairfield County, but I am also so happy to pop in and out of NYC for the amazing food, access to museums and shows, and of course, to see my brother in Brooklyn and friends in Manhattan. Greenwich has so much to offer and I love spending time with my kids at local restaurants, exploring new places and hanging with our friends. For all the moms out there – in upcoming blogs, I will talk much more about my sweet kiddos and helping them achieve a more balanced diet!
5. I do not like cleaning up my kitchen mess
I cook almost every night and love being in the kitchen, but I dislike cleaning up! My husband ALWAYS does it! We have even distribution of responsibility, which makes us both happy. He doesn’t have to make dinner and I don’t have to clean up the mess. Win, win!
Thanks for reading along and I hope to hear from you all with questions or topics about nutrition, food, kids, healthy eating, sports, etc. as the weeks and months go by.
xx
